There is a weird Y symbol with a little ^ over it in my statistics homework at the start of an equation, does that weird y symbol mean I have to solve the equation any differently?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

y^ is a regressionmodel for that actual data

OpenStudy (amistre64):

y^ is just a name for an equation that models the data is all

It also serves to note that these are predicted y values rather than observed.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok! So there's no different way that I would solve the equation?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

equations are equations ... you enter an input and they give you a result ...
