What is your x– intercept when m = 2 and b = 4 ?

OpenStudy (softballgirl372015):

Do you know how to set up an equation given the m and b value?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not exactly lol

OpenStudy (softballgirl372015):

Well you can use the formula for a line which is: y=mx+b With the numbers that you were given in the question, you can plug in the values and have an equation.

OpenStudy (softballgirl372015):

Then to find the x-intercept, you plug in 0 for y and solve for x. Since the x-intercept will happen at the point (x,0)

OpenStudy (softballgirl372015):

So the equation that you have to solve becomes 0=2x+4 and then you have to solve for x

OpenStudy (macielynn):

y=2x+4 is how you set it up. this is your formula: y=mx+b. divide by 2 on both sides and it will look like this y=2x+4 divided by 2. when you are finished with the problem it should look like this y=2

OpenStudy (softballgirl372015):

Does this make sense? Or are you still confused?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got it Thank you so much!

OpenStudy (softballgirl372015):

No problem!! :)
