expand (1-2x)^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You could rewrite as (1-2x)(1-2x)(1-2x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then I would foil the first two expressions, then multiply that by the 3rd.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Well, do it. 1*(1^3)*(-2x)^0 3*(1^2)*(-2x)^1 3*(1^1)*(-2x)^2 1*(1^0)*(-2x)^3 Just build it.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Do NOT "FOIL" the first two and then multiply by the 3rd. Just multiply the first two and then multiply by the third. "FOIL" IS multiplication of binomials. I wish we didn't think it was something other than multiplication.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It means the same thing doesn't it?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

No. You just confused it. In your sentence, you had "FOIL" and "multiply" listed as two different things. Very confusing.
