BIOLOGY HELP!! WILL FAN AND MEDAL. PLEASE <3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Compare the properties of the parent and daughter cells in mitosis and meiosis and explain the reason for any differences.

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Remember, mitosis is duplicating cells. Meiosis is the creation of reproductive cells called gametes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you. is there a reason for those differences

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

I don't understand what you mean...Mitosis and meiosis are just names for the type of cellular reproduction that occurs.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in the question it said to explain the reason for any differences. i dont know what to put for that

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Well, *because* mitosis is replicating cells, the result is 2 diploid cells that are exactly the same as the parent cells. And *because* meiosis is the creation of reproductive gametes, the result is 4 daughter cells with differing chromosomes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much!!!

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

You're welcome.
