How is chemistry used in surgery? I need to write a 5 page paper on this and i can't find anything on it.
I dont know what do you have in mind but there is a lot of chemistry in surgery, fron detection of malign cells to pain-killer drugs or anesthesia, antiseptics, sterilization, or pre surgery lab tests. Here I found a few articles that may help you to focus in some topic your paper. http://news.stanford.edu/news/2014/january/stomach-cancer-chemistry-020314.html http://questions.sci-toys.com/node/180 http://www.chem.purdue.edu/Media/news/091811.asp
I don't know if this is used anymore, but phenol was used as an oral anesthetic/analgesic in products such as Chloraseptic. It is quite an important molecule. Although it is relatively simple in comparison to other biochemical molecules and complex organic molecules, it's properties are quite beautiful.
