so look at it this way... if you draw tangents on the curve... where would they have positive slopes... x > ?

Assuming that's an I: It's -1. Relative minimum generally can be identified as the peak of the downwards-pointing hills of an equation. To be more concise, if we draw the slope equation at a relative min/max, the slope of that slope equation is 0. Assuming that's an L: The function is neither. if we take the portion from [0, infinity], we get the quadratic equation as (x - 2)(x - 4). If we expand this, we get x^2 - 6x + 8. So if we plug in -x, we don't get neither f(x) (due to 6x) or -f(x) as the result (due to x^2).
