when you multiply sin(3*t) .* sin(t) you should use dot * to show that you are multiplying corresponding elements.

also, you might want to append semi-colons to the end of each statement.

this should work t=linspace(0,2*pi,200); r=2*sin(3*t) .*sin(t); polar(t,r);
