can someone explain this statement to me: Humans share 50% of their DNA with bananas. will give medal if accurate

I think it means humans SHARE 50% of their DNA Many living things are based on the same structures of DNA - a small change makes a big difference (humans and other apes share nearly ALL their DNA) Thus if you compare the DNA of humans and bananas this statement suggest that half of the sequences are the same (PS - This is not an area of expertise for me - just general info...)
