*** Personal Pet Peeve Warning ***

Factoring by grouping is rarely useful.  You should see it and take advantage of it in the very, VERY rare instances where it is helpful.  For the most part, examples of factoring by grouping are created ONLY by knowing the advantageous groupings in advance.  Seriously, you should learn it just well enough to get it on your exam, then put it out of your mind.  I'm still not sure why anyone wastes any time on it in a mathematics curriculum.
