1.Thomas Jefferson (He wrote the Constitution) - very simple : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Thomas_Jefferson_by_Rembrandt_Peale,_1800.jpg 2. Henry Ford - he popularized the automobile and changed travel http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Ford#mediaviewer/File:Henry_ford_1919.jpg 3. Abraham Lincoln - he famously won the Civil War - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraham_Lincoln#mediaviewer/File:Abraham_Lincoln_November_1863.jpg All of these are very famous Americans and easy costumes - just a suit, and maybe a wig :)
Excellent suggestions @tuhler
How about Benjamin Franklin. Only person who was famous even before the revolution and even after. He was an ambassador to France. He was the one who got France to come into the side of the Americans during the revolution. He started the first postal system.
