If cos=3/5 then tan=____. What is trying to be done. Am I supposed to find the equivalent of cos=3/5 to tan or what? Please explain thank you.

Drawing triangle helps. We know that \(\cos\theta=\dfrac{Adj}{Hyp}=\dfrac{3}{5}\), so we can say that adj is 3 and hyp is 5. |dw:1413745074041:dw| And we know that \(\tan\theta = \dfrac{Opp}{Adj}\) We need to find Opp. Use pythagorean theorem to find Opp.

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

4^2 + 3^2 = 5^2 = 16 + 9 = 25

geerky42 (geerky42):

Right, so what is Opp?

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

Opposite is 4 so 4/3 then is the answer?

geerky42 (geerky42):

yes
