I NEED HELP WITH PART B.!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

#HELP!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iambatman

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:(

OpenStudy (abdullah1995):

alright lets see this problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's in the comments

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the first attachment

OpenStudy (abdullah1995):

what is the second attachment ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the table that it tells you to make for part a

OpenStudy (abdullah1995):

are you sure your part a is right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

math is my worst grade...

OpenStudy (abdullah1995):

you pay $1 just to get the movie. for every day you rent you have to give $0.5 so for 5 days it is (0.5+0.5+0.5+0.5+0.5) + 1

OpenStudy (abdullah1995):

did you understand ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be $3.50

OpenStudy (abdullah1995):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but I still don't know how to do part B

OpenStudy (abdullah1995):

well we are not done with part A yet. you also calculated the friends cost wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (abdullah1995):

for your friend it costs 1.25 for every day. and the question asks for 5 days. so add 1.25 times ( 1.25+1.25+1.25+1.25+1.25)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6.25

OpenStudy (abdullah1995):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so... "you" pay $3.50 and "friend" pays $6.25

OpenStudy (abdullah1995):

yes sir

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*mam

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (abdullah1995):

*mam, sorry c:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so now onto part B?

OpenStudy (abdullah1995):

alright let's see what part B is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's friend who is proportional... I think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh I got it!!! because 6.25/5=1.25 which is how much "friend" paid

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!

OpenStudy (abdullah1995):

no.

OpenStudy (abdullah1995):

you can't prove like that. to see which one is proportional you have to divide the cost by the number of days. so 1.25/1 = k (1.25+1.25)/2 = k (1.25+1.25+1.25)/3 = k if all the above calculations give the same number than friend is proportional otherwise you are proportional.

I'm in 7th grade they don't care as long as you show a little work...
