A rope is 66 feet long. It is cut into two pieces such that one piece is half the length of the other. What is the length of the longer piece of rope?

I meant to say 2 x Piece 1 = Piece 2.

OpenStudy (igreen):

Piece 1 must be 22 ft long, and Piece 2 must be 44 ft long. 2 x Piece 1 = Piece 2 2 x 22 = 44 44 = 44 So it's true. And 44 + 22 = 66 ft.
