Urgent (will give medal): If An = 2^n - 3, then what is the fifth term of the sequence? Can someone please explain it to me, I hate these kind of things D: Thanks!

OpenStudy (kainui):

n is just a number telling you what term it is. So for example, the third term is just \[\LARGE A_3\] So if I want to know what value the third term has, I just continue to replace the rest of the n's with 3. \[\LARGE A_3=2^3-3=5\] Does that make sense? Not so bad when you understand it's just a way to plug in stuff.

OpenStudy (butterflyhope):

Yes, thank you so much :D

OpenStudy (kainui):

If you want me to check, tell me what you get for A5 and I'll tell you if you got it right or not.

OpenStudy (butterflyhope):

I got A5 = 29 ^-^

OpenStudy (kainui):

Perfect! =)
