OpenStudy (jordanloveangel):

The length of a rectangle is 8 in. more than its width. The perimeter is 52 in. What is the length of the rectangle?

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Well, in the problem we have been given two sides so far! |dw:1413846031424:dw|

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Perimeter means the length around the shape. So since we have two sides already, let's add 8 and 8 together, and we get 16. Now we have to take 52 (since that is the perimeter) and take away 16 52 - 16 = 36 Now all we got to do it divide 36 by 2 and get 18! 18 would be the value of both missing sides..|dw:1413846242713:dw|

sammixboo (sammixboo):

We can take 18 + 18 + 8 + 8 and add it all together and get 52

OpenStudy (jordanloveangel):

thanx

OpenStudy (jordanloveangel):

but when i look @ the answer its said that 17 is right answer @sammixboo

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Hmm must've done a typo D:

OpenStudy (jordanloveangel):

yeah may be im trying to see how they got 17 ~_^

sammixboo (sammixboo):

=.= Because 17 + 17 + 8 + 8 = 50 not 52 ; _ ;

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Hmm I dunno

OpenStudy (jordanloveangel):

just forget it but thanx for ur help
