In Spanish, what's the difference between "familia extendida" & "familia ampliada"? In what cases is it more appropriate to use one over the other?

La familia ampliada is a concept used traditionally to describe when families share responsibility and resources like a village bringing up a child ( hardly exists in the modern world ) La familia extend is the extension of la familia nuclear. They often only share with people related by blood or marriage but don't share responsibilities or don't live in the same neighbourhood like the ampliada.
