10. Solve for the variable. 4.1b = -20.5 (Points : 1) 5 84.05 -84.05 -5 Question 11.11. Solve for the variable. -9x = -108 (Points : 1) 12 972 -12 -972

OpenStudy (adamaero):

10.is it possitive or negative? 11. positive or negative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 10 is the question number, the 11 is also a question number, the 11 next to it is positive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait im sorry both numbers even the two 11s are questions nu,mbers

OpenStudy (adamaero):

I know; I mean for the equation.

OpenStudy (adamaero):

I know both answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know

OpenStudy (adamaero):

You don't know what happens when you divide negative and positive numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but which ones

OpenStudy (adamaero):

I am asking you the question: For question #11, is the answer positive or negative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm having trouble solving

OpenStudy (adamaero):

How many times does 4 go into 20?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4*5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5

OpenStudy (adamaero):

9*9 is close to 9*12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

81

OpenStudy (adamaero):

so what do you think #11 is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

81 isn't a answer choice so im guessing it's 84.05

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops i was looking at the wrong thing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

These are the answer choices 12 972 -12 -972

OpenStudy (adamaero):

Why are you giving all the choices?! You should be able to know it's not half of them (for each question!) just by knowing if the answer is a negative or positive.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

positive

OpenStudy (adamaero):

So it's either 12 or 972--right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right

OpenStudy (adamaero):

-9*(9) = -81 So...with that in your mind: -9*(12) is closer to -108 or is -9*972 closer to -108 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9*12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right?
