A farmer was counting his cows and chickens. He counted 13 heads and 36 legs. How many cows does he have? A. 5 B. 8 C. 9 D. 18

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

5 cows 8 chickens Cows have 4 legs and 5*4=20 so 20 legs which leaves 16 legs over, and 4 heads which leave 8 heads over. since chickens have 2 legs, 16/2=8 so, there are 5 cows and 8 chickens.
