Medal to the helper! What is an expression for the sale price of a bracelet that has been discounted 60% from its sticker price? Evaluate the expression for sticker prices of $90. Use the Variables s for the sale price and p for the sticker price

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Let p = sticker price and s = sale price p is the original price before the discount we take 60% of p to get 0.60p or 0.6p. This is the amount you save. Subtract this from the original price: p - 0.6p = 1p - 0.6p = 0.4p So essentially you are paying for 40% of the original price This means s = 0.4p

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

if the sticker price is $90, the plug p = 90 into s = 0.4p to find s
