solve for x 2-5(x+5)= 3(x-2)-1

OpenStudy (gorv):

distribute 5 inside

OpenStudy (melissa_something):

or multiply 3 by each term inside parenthesis

OpenStudy (melissa_something):

subtract 1 from -6 to get -7

OpenStudy (melissa_something):

then multiply -5 by each term inside the parenthesis

OpenStudy (gorv):

no u need to distribute first

OpenStudy (melissa_something):

you can do it either way, I got x=-2 @gorv

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really distributing first is the right step, in this problem it doesn't really matter, but tougher ones it would make a difference

OpenStudy (gorv):

2-5x-25=3x-6-1 -23-5x=3x-7 yeah u got right @Melissa_Something
