The perimeter of a rectangle is 90 ft. Find the dimensions of the rectangle if the ratio of the length to the width is 8: 7. Which of the following would be the best equation to use to solve this problem?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Let the width be x ft. Then the length will be (8/7)x ft. The following equation for the perimeter can then be written: \[\large 2x+\frac{16}{7}x=90\ ............(1)\] Equation (1) can be solved to find the value of the width. Note: There are other equations that could be constructed to find a solution.
