sorry i cant say im not sure
well if you have a guess i appreciate it^^
My first response was a poor one, but its all i could figure in the time that i had The transcendentalist ideals that still hold importance now is spirituality and individualism. to this day american people still value spirituality as part of their daily life, and many live by their spiritual beliefs. The transcendentalists lived by an awarness of the world around them beyond what they could see, touch, hear, or feel. The transcendentalists also lived through independence, and individuality. Nowadays people work toward embracing their true selves and standing out in a crowd. ( i had no specific examples)
just, where did i go wrong, what can i add? i guess you could say ive got 'writers block'.
(1)The transcendentalist ideals that still hold importance now is spirituality and individualism. (2)to this day (3)american people still value spirituality as part of their daily life, and many live by their spiritual beliefs. (4)The transcendentalists lived by an (5)awarness of the world around them beyond what they could see, touch, hear, or feel. The transcendentalists also lived through independence, and individuality. Nowadays people work toward embracing their true selves and standing out in a crowd. 1. Always start off with an interesting fact that sparks interest. Keep in mind that your teacher has to read this and most likely doesn't enjoy going through 20+ pages of writing. You need to be unique, exciting, and be passionate about your subject whether you like it or not. 2. Capitalization error, always start off a new sentence with the first letter of the first word being capitalized. Correct capitalization would be "To" 3. Another capitalization error. Correct usage is "American." 4. (This is more of a personal opinion, you can skip this section if you like) I would start off the sentence with Transcendentalists live by an (5)awareness of the world around them, beyond from what they could perceive from their five senses, touch, sight, sound, taste and feel. Transcendentalists valued individualism, and live by it accordingly. 5. This is where you misspelled awareness. Previously you wrote "awarness", and skipped the e.
Instead of, "they could perceive" I would just write, "they perceive"
so, my content wasnt all that bad, it was just simple errors in writing style/grammar and spelling?
Oh there is other improvements to be made. Here I just fixed some grammar errors, gave opinions on your opening sentence and your ending. But I believe that there is a lot more information that you could provide in this paragraph.
Also in your last sentence, "Nowadays people work toward embracing their true selves and standing out in a crowd.", this seems more like of an opinion, and/or something you added in last minute.
To me, it's always risky to have your opinion in an essay, some teachers appreciate your thoughts added in and others discourage it as this is a research project and it's not all about "your opinions." But some teachers value opinions and see it as a form of research, so you can choose how you want to do that part.
She seems to stress the use of 'self-reflection' in essays, which i think is the use of opinion..
I have to go for a couple min, I'll brb. I agree with what you just said. Keep your opinion in there. Try to make the changes as you see fit while I'm gone ;P
Okay, thank you. Take your time
The Transcendentalist era was and era of many great people and ideals, some that still are important now. The transcendentalist ideals that still hold importance now is spirituality and individualism. To this day the American people still value spirituality as part of their daily life, and many live by their spiritual beliefs. Transcendentalists lived by an awareness of the world around them, beyond from what they could perceive from their five senses, touch, sight, sound, taste and feel. Transcendentalists valued individualism, and live by it accordingly. Nowadays people work toward embracing their true selves and standing out in a crowd, proof that the value of individuality still stands.
an era* (ugh)
as part or as a part, I'm unsure how it should be written, but I would go with the second choice as it's the safe one.
Okay! :) as far as content goes, what do you reccomend i add? im kinda lost on the rst, i thought my answer was pretty good :/ before i got my grade :P
"The Transcendentalist era was and era of many great people and ideals, some that still are important now" Instead of now, I would have today. Now seems too direct, today is more general.
*an era ;P
oh O.O okay :D
The Transcendentalist era was an era of many great people and ideals, some that are still important today.
gyah, i miss the days when 'english class' meant making word searches out of vocabulary words.
The Transcendentalist ideals that still hold importance today is spirituality and individualism.(1) To this day the American people still value spirituality as part of their daily life, and many live by their spiritual beliefs. Transcendentalists lived by an awareness of the world around them, beyond from what they could perceive from their five senses, touch, sight, sound, taste and feel. (2)Transcendentalists valued individualism, and live by it accordingly. Nowadays people work toward embracing their true selves and standing out in a crowd, proof that the value of individuality still stands. 1. Now you need to provide examples of spirituality and individualism being used today. Always provide proof for your facts! Also, "To this day the American people still value spirituality as part of their daily life, and many live by their spiritual beliefs." That section doesn't exactly work as proof for Transcendentalists ideals still being held as important to this day, this requires more research! 2. "Transcendentalists valued individualism, and live by it accordingly." This seems like a rough transition from the awareness of the world around them, to how Transcendentalist's value individualism. Try to connect the two somehow. You paragraphs need to be one united army of destruction, moving towards that A. You can't have rough transitions between sentences as it just feels off when you read it. Always try to something connect your sentences by them relating to each other. For example: The F-22 Raptor is one of most amazing aircraft to ever grace the skies of planet Earth. Soaring through the clouds at speeds faster than a bullet, it is no question that this plane is the king of the skies. This plane is also a stealth plane and it can dodge radar. Notice how it basically sounded great, until I came to the part about stealth, it just doesn't feel right when your read it. Now let me correct that "mistake" by moving into the part about stealth, smoothly as possible c; The F-22 Raptor is one of most amazing aircraft to ever grace the skies of planet Earth. Soaring through the clouds at speeds faster than a bullet, it is no question that this plane is the king of the skies. But in order to claim it's title, this plane must have the capability to meet and exceed any requirements that a fighter plane has. Speed is no problem for this beauty, and neither is stealth. The surface of the plane is plated with cells that absorb enemy radar. Also, the alignment of the planes wings and overall, it's body shape, helps redirect and reflect any radar that isn't absorbed.

my only thing is i feel ive already proven the point, but you, and my teacher say i have not? :o what did i not include, you say i need more research but, it seems kind of confusing now.
This is a lot, I know. This is the thought process of an A+ student xD hehe
im actually kind of jealous, haha. i wouldnt be in this predicament if i thought the way you do.
Lets go way back to the beginning, and see what your teacher asked for: The Transcendentalists were criticized and sometimes mocked for being too unrealistic. However, some of their ideals are still with us today and have become part of the American identity. Identify and describe at least two transcendental ideals that you believe are still valued today. Write one paragraph for each ideal. Include specific quotes and examples from both Emerson and Thoreau. #1. The Transcendentalists were criticized and sometimes mocked for being too unrealistic. Here your teacher is stating sorrowful facts about the Transcendentalists, perhaps to get you to sympathize with them. Sympathy is a couple steps away from passion, both can drive us to do things for people. Maybe you should include information that talks about how Transcendentalists were criticized and mocked for their beliefs. #2 However, some of their ideals are still with us today and have become part of the American identity. Clearly your teacher wants you to state how these ideals are still alive today, and you got that part covered(kind of) but you still need to add proof. Like, how are Americans keeping these ideals alive today? #3 (Big Chunk) Identify and describe at least two transcendental ideals that you believe are still valued today. Write one paragraph for each ideal. Include specific quotes and examples from both Emerson and Thoreau. I believe the two you used were spirituality and individualism. She said to IDENTIFY and DESCRIBE. So far you just identified them, not describing them. Also, you need to provide proof. Also, she did say one paragraph each, so explaining these ideals should be in separate paragraphs. ---> Include specific quotes and examples from both Emerson and Thoreau <--- LYN I saw no quotes or examples v-v
i dont think it helps (as far as quotes and examples go ) that i get really confused while reading the text, the way they write is so cryptic to me. >_<
All you do is have to say some quotes in your paragraph that relate. Say for example you're talking about spirituality and you have this quote of Emerson talking about spirituality. Just meld it together into that section and have a good transition.
oh, okay. Well im going to get to bed, would you mind if i answered tomorrow? its kinda 2 AM over here ;/
Haha go to bed, but I'm quite busy and I'm not sure I will be able to come on tomorrow. But just go along the lines of what I stated above. I would suggest getting a piece of paper, and writing down all the requirements that your teacher wants you to meet in this project. Then make sure you meet these requirements and perhaps even exceed them. Check them off as you go and I believe you should do well. Just remember to check your grammar, spelling, transitions between sentences, be unique and most of all, have fun with it. Be serious, but have fun, I always do awesome on assignments when I have fun with doing them, so try find a point of interest in all this and revolve around it :P Anyway, good luck!
Oh and, RESEARCH and quotes c;
Proof too!
Haha
thank you so much :)
No problem :)
Shouldn't this be in History? o.o
This was an English assignment on a topic. It doesn't exactly touch on history as we just researched Transcendentalists and certain aspects of them, some of which happened to be moments of the past. But still, overall, this is English.
i edited it and i got a b! (she subtracted points for lateness) but thank you so very much! <3
