First subtract 6 from both sides, and then multiply 5 to each side. (this'll get the variable "alone")

Well, start with subtracting 6 from both sides. Your equation is x/5 + 6 = 36 So then go x/5 + 6 -6 = 36 - 6. Do the same with multiplying 5 after you solve that. You're just "reversing" all the functions so you can find the value of your variable.
