What is the volume of a 612 g piece of aluminum? The density of aluminum is 2.70 g/cm3.

OpenStudy (mrnood):

the clue is in the units density is grams PER cm^3 This means that every 2.70 g has a volume of 1 cm^3 But the piece your question has 612g - so how many pieces of 2.70 grams (=1cm^3) could you get from that larger piece? (if you don't know how to start then how many pieces of 2.70 grams could you get from a larger piece weighing 5.40g? how many pieces of 2.70 grams could you get from a larger piece weighing 8.10g? how many pieces of 2.70 grams could you get from a larger piece weighing 10.8g? How did you work that out?....)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be 226?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

Just about - however - volume does not necessarily come in cm^3 sized pieces. Maybe you should consider rounding the answer to a suitable number of decimal places?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

226.6 maybe?
