why is photosythesis an example of chemical reaction, and why is it classified as endothermic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Photosynthesis is one of the processes that plants use to obtain energy in a usable form. It is an example, and a good one at that, of a chemical reaction simply because it involves multiple chemical, certain conditions and definite products. The reaction for photosynthesis is thus: 6CO2 + 6H2O --(Light)--> C6H12O6 + 6O2 This process is useful as it enables plants to turn light energy, usually given from the sun, into chemical energy in the form of glucose (C6H12O6) and oxygen (O2), which can be used for the plant's biochemical activities.

And its endothermic because , The chlorophyll and pigments in the plant absorb the light energy from the sun's rays, thus taking in energy.
