Benjamin Franklin wrote the Albany Plan of the Union of 1754. It's purpose was to unite the Colonies during the French and Indian War that was the framework for the Articles of Confederation. This plan failed.

B, British-colonist relations were headed downwards. The British felt that the colonists' immediate loyalty should have been for the British, while the colonists felt that they were being asked to abandon their families and go fight.. leaving women and children at risk of death from Indian war parties.
