Can someone check if I did this correctly? Medal!

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

I'm a bit doubtful of Line B and D, I don't feel confident that I did it right.

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

@mathebula @mathmath333

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

what is the original question

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

For this option, you will design a new park by creating a colored-in, closed figure on a coordinate plane. Create a fun figure that will have everyone coming to your park. A diamond, a trapezoid- you name it! Then, you will state the inequalities that allow you to create the figure. You may use the link and directions below to help you create your shape or you may use any paint program, slideshow program, or graph the figure by hand, scan, and attach. You must submit the following to your instructor: The graph: A coordinate plane with a colored in, closed figure. Each segment must be labeled. The inequalities: Show the work for finding the inequality that defines each segment. A point: Choose a point within the boundaries of the shape, and show algebraically that the point satisfies all of the inequalities.

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

for \(\huge B\) as the left hand side area is needed the region would be left to line BC \(\large\tt \begin{align} \color{black}{y=-3x+8}\end{align}\) that is inequality \(\large\tt \begin{align} \color{black}{y\leq -3x+8}\end{align}\)

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

Okay, I see what I did wrong. After getting -3 I just left it like that. And may I ask, how did you get the "+8"?

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

sry it will be \[\large y=-3x+9\]

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

But how did you get the +9?

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

its from the equation of line BC

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

What is the equation?

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

\[\large \color{black}{y=-3x+9}\]

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

same for \(\huge{D}\) the region required will be the righthand side region of line AD \(\Large\tt \begin{align} \color{black}{y=3x-1\\~\\ }\end{align}\) and region required would be represented ny inequality \(\Large\rm \begin{align} \color{black}{y\leq 3x-1}\end{align}\)

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

I think I sort of get it now. Thanks! :) *hands out shiny precious*

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

If I open a new question, could you help me find "A point: Choose a point within the boundaries of the shape, and show algebraically that the point satisfies all of the inequalities." part of the question? I'll give you another medal. ^-^

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

@mathmath333

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

hey @Secret-Ninja sry for BC the equation of line BC would be \[\large y=-3x+17\] and the inequality would be \[\huge y\leq -3x+17\]
