Please help we know he does block the punt but how do we do the rest?? 11. A punter kicks a football. Its height, h, in meters, t seconds after the kick is given by the equation h= –4.9t² + 18.24t + 0.8. The height of an approaching blocker's hands is modeled by the equation h= –1.43t + 4.26, using the same time. Can the blocker knock down the punt? If so, at what point will it happen?
You have two graphs: the football is following a parabola (because the t^2 suggests to you the path is a quadratic>) It looks like the blocker's hands are traveling on a line (the form h = mt + b.) The point where the heights of the ball and the blocker's hands are equal (the line and the parabola intersect) is where the blocker succeeds. Remembering the law of transitivity, two things equal to the same thing (h) are equal to each other. Try it.
ok i am
i still dont really understand after that i set them equal and i got: -4.9t^2+19.67t-3.46=0
