The table below shows the initial and final masses of a radioactive material in a container. Based on the table, which of these conclusions is correct? Initial Mass (in kilograms)- 0.8 Final Mass (in kilograms)- 0.05 A. The half life of the material is three years. B. The half life of the material is four years. C. The mass of the material was 0.1 kilograms after four half lives. D. The mass of the material was 0.1 kilograms after three half lives.
Half life is defined as the time it takes for a radioactive material to reduce to half it's original mass
Correct.
So, if the original mass was 0.8g, 1 half life is the time it takes for this chunk of material to reduce to 0.4g
Understand? :P
And this is Bio so this should be in the Biology section.
I tried that dividing it by 2 and all but I couldn't get the answer choices ;;
I did post there but my teacher told me this thing kinda goes both ways with math and science
how many times do you have to divide 0.8g by 2 to get 0.05g?
0.8--->0.4--->0.2--->0.1--->0.05 How many arrows is that?
4-Ohh~I did something wrong earlier then ^^;; sorry so it's B right?
No.
....can you explain this to me?
Oh wait, I got confused. But yeah go with that answer if you'd like.
Okay~But that's the right answer right? Because D sounds right too
Yeah, I was thinking D too! So I would go with D for sure.
Okay *crosses my fingers* Now I'm going to hope I pass~Thanks for the help though! :D
You're welcome :P Good luck!
