Lusitania was the boat that was German U-boats sank. Americans were really upset by this move because there was an agreement in place saying that German U-boats were off limits in certain parts of water. They broke that agreement by sinking the boat and a coupe others. There also were American people on that boat, which the American people did not fancy hearing. There also was a suspicion about the assassination of the Arch Archduke Francis Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary by a Serbian nationalist in 1914. Some would say it was set up by the American government, some would say it was just other economic rivals. This event only made things more tense throughout the whole country. Having people waiting for something worse to happen. Plus Europe was making alliances around the world gaining extra power. U.S thought it was pretty sketchy. For example Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia, Russia got involved to defend Serbia. Germany seeing Russia mobilizing, declared war on Russia. France was then drawn in against Germany and Austria-Hungary. Germany attacked France through Belgium pulling Britain into war. Then Japan entered the war. Later, Italy and the United States would enter on the side of the allies. It all happened like the domino effect. Imperialism is another great factor. Everyone wants to expand, any gain more money and supplies. Simply because they have either ran out of a demanding product and want more. Greedy eh? Well I hoped this helped :)
