OpenStudy (1645323):

How do I find oblique asymptote of (5x^2+3)/(x-1)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To find the oblique asymptote, simply divide 5x^2+3 by x-1.

OpenStudy (1645323):

ok so I did long division and the result was 5x+5 R8

OpenStudy (1645323):

nevermind the remainder doesn't matter and the O.A. is 5x+5. Thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the equation of the asymptote, just disregard the remainder, so what you got (5x+5) is correct.
