how to find centroid of this composite plane shape http://math.stackexchange.com/questions/988745/find-the-centroid-of-shown-plane-figure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am stuck at finding y coordinate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its like finding the avg

OpenStudy (anonymous):

think of it like breaking it up into small square areas and u wanna find at the x value where you are getting the mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah but how do i plugin everything into the formula \[\large \overline{y} = \dfrac{1}{A}\int\limits_a^b (f^2-g^2) dx\] ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got A = 24 - 1.8^2pi/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

break the circle into +/- sqrt(r^2-...)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lemmee see something quick

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks there is a mistake in earlier formula, it should be \[\large \overline{y} = \dfrac{1}{A}\int\limits_a^b \frac{1}{2}(f^2-g^2) dx\]
