Medal; (: Use synthetic division and the remainder theorem to find P(a) P(x)=2x^3-x^2=10x ; a=1/2 Can someone please show me how to do this.?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You will have to write what you mean. Seems like there is an extra "=" in there.

OpenStudy (perl):

synthetic division is an alternative way to find P(a), rather than evaluating it directly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My bad. It's supposed to say +10x not =10x @tkhunny

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

|dw:1414156860917:dw| Go!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 2, 0, 10, 5. Then what?

OpenStudy (perl):

the last value is P(a)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So 5?

OpenStudy (perl):

P(1/2) = 5

OpenStudy (perl):

assuming your arithmetic is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you (:
