How did the Allied powers trap German troops in Tunisia? The British drove Rommel and his troops toward Tunisia from the east, and Allied forces pushed in from the west. The Allies staged a massive land-air invasion into Tunisia from the Mediterranean Sea. Montgomery led a bombing campaign that forced the Germans to move out of Algeria and into Tunisia. The Allies convinced the Vichy French troops to help them push the Germans out of Algeria and toward Tunisia.
