2. How did an indentured servant differ from an enslaved person?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Slaves had it rough more then the servants. Slaves had to do way more then the servants. Some even babysit.

Thanks again! (cudoos)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

welcome. Im good in history.

OpenStudy (animelover98):

I wouldn't say that

OpenStudy (animelover98):

Indentured Servants were simply WORKING to PAY OFF a DEBT they owed someone. And enslaved person was enslaved until their master released them.

OpenStudy (animelover98):

One such example would be when colonists would come to America from another country. Someone in America would pay for their travel in exchange for their labor as an indentured servant. A slave would be like an African American slave that worked 24/7 until the master set them free.

Okay thanks thats all i need!

OpenStudy (animelover98):

Once the indentured servant paid off their debt, they left with all their original rights as a free man.

OpenStudy (animelover98):

But before you write anything, slaves and servants didn't have it rougher or better. It all depended on the master and how they treated them.
