The ideas of Montesquieu, a French writer, influenced the Founding Fathers to create a government where no one person or part had too much power. Why did this idea appeal to the Founding Fathers? They had experienced the rule of a tyrant. They liked the way Louis XVI governed France. They wanted to make sure government was powerful. They believed Montesquieu's plan was the best.
