OpenStudy (pagen13):

5. Why does photosynthesis require water? a. because water provides oxygen atoms b. because water provides electrons c. because water accepts electrons d. because water acts as a catalyst

OpenStudy (pagen13):

I think its b

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

YES! you are right

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

I had to write out the formula of photosynthesis

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

6CO2 + 6H2O = C6H12O6 + 6O2

OpenStudy (abhisar):

In photosynthesis water (\(\sf H_2O\)) breaks into \(\sf H^+\) + \(\sf O_2\) + 2e. These electrons are passed on to the electron transport system of photosynthesis, H2 is used up in glucose synthesis and O2 is liberated.

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

Then as you see........ water loses 2-hydrogens aka becomes oxidized (Loss eletrons) which are given to the Carbon source.
