find value of x!

I'm not 100% on this, but I believe every triangle has to add up to 180 degrees. So one is 40 degrees, one is x degrees, and the other is (5x + 14) degrees. So you would have to add all that up to equal 180. So basically - 40 + x + (5x + 14) = 180 This is how you would start it up anyway. Now you have to solve for x.

OpenStudy (senkai):

40 + x + (5x + 14) = 180 first you must subtract 40 from both sides So you would get: x + (5x + 14) = 140

ok

OpenStudy (senkai):

Then I believe you have to subtract the 14 from both sides as well? (I think) So you would get x + 5x = 126

OpenStudy (senkai):

You can combine like terms to get 6x = 126 So now you would have to divide 6 from both sides.
