Any ideas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i am very confused about this question

OpenStudy (queelius):

What percentage of 100 is 88?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

88%

OpenStudy (queelius):

Yes. And we are given that the water weight is always 88% of the total weight, whatever that weight might be.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (queelius):

So, what is 88% of 225?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

198%

OpenStudy (queelius):

88% of 225 pounds is 196 pounds, yes. (Note that it's not 198%, but 198 pounds.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh i c i understand

OpenStudy (queelius):

Good. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its just 196 pounds?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

196 lbs

OpenStudy (queelius):

Yes. I imagine you would find the question a lot easier to answer if, for instance, the question was, "Half the total weight of a person is water weight." Then, instead of 88%, we just take 50%, or one-half, of the total weight.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya it was not that hard and thank you :)

OpenStudy (queelius):

Welcome.
