First, simplify 6/12 to 1/2. It makes it a lot easier later on.
You're now left with 1/2 - 2/9.
Make the denominators the same by multiplying 2 and 9. Your new denominator will be 18.
Then, you have to multiply the numerators by whatever number you multiplied the denominators by.
Now you can subtract the two fractions.
