if y varies directly as x, and y=9 when x=7, find y when x=14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm pretty sure it's 18 because 14 devided by 7 is 2 so 2 time 9 is 18

@kareng19

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

direct variatrion means y = kx so find k when y = 9 and x = 7 so y = 7k then find k. then find y when x = 14 using the k value you found y = 14k

so am i wrong? @campbell_st

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well no it's correct....its a very obvious question but to solve direct variation the steps are 1. find the value of k using given information. 2. then find the unknown using the value of k and any given information

oh okay
