Find the equation of a line y=mx+b of a line that passes through the points (-1,-4) and (-3,7) I don't remember how to set this up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I put in the x's and y's and got -2/11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The slope is rise over run, that is the difference in \(y\) over the difference in \(x\) \[m=\frac{ y _{2}−y_{1} }{ x_{2}−x_{1} } \] Then substitute the found \(m\) into the equation \(y=ax+b\), together with \(x_{1}\) and \(y_{1}\), so that you can find \(b\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry I wrote the equation for m the wrong way, the first time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so m = -11/2
