radical 35/36
I am unclear about what you are asking. Are you asking to turn that number into a radical?
.9860132972?
no i have to simplify it
simplify 35/36?
oh
yes
or simplify: \[\sqrt{\frac{35}{36}}\]?
yes that
ahhh ok lol, well do you know of this property: \[\sqrt{\frac{a}{b}}=\frac{\sqrt{a}}{\sqrt{b}}\]
yes but my teacher is really bad and just gave us that formula. so i dont get how to fully simplify that. She marked them all wrong when i just did that
ahh so you probably just wrote this right: \[\frac{\sqrt{35}}{\sqrt{36}}\] as your answer. Is that correct?
yes
Yes unfortunately your teacher is right, it's not fully simplified...Now do you know what the square root of 36 is?
6
yes so can't we simplify your answer down to: \[\frac{\sqrt{35}}{6}\]?
Does that make sense?
no
well we know that \[\sqrt{36} = 6\] right?
so shouldn't \[\frac{\sqrt{35}}{\sqrt{36}}=\frac{\sqrt{35}}{6}\] since \[\sqrt{36}=6\] see how I just replaced the sqrt of 36 with the 6 since they are equal?
yes thanks
yes but before you go you need to check the numerator to see if it can be simplified. If you "can't" square root it. You need to check it's prime factors to see if you can actually simplify it down.
