Please Help: Chlorine gas can be prepared in the laboratory by adding 1ml of concentrated hydrochloric acid into a test tube containing a small portion of calcium hypochlorite. Explain why small quantities of the reagents are used in the preparation of chlorine gas?

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

Read this: http://spartacus-educational.com/FWWchlorine.htm I assume it is asking why you are using small amounts of these reagents in the lab you are performing, if so that link should answer your question and also give you a bit of a history lesson.
