you just have to identify which is 15% or 0.15 from the choices of fractions let's say for the the first option, 8.50 is multiplied by 3/20.. convert 3/20 to decimal.. what could be its decimal equivalent?
15% of 8.5 is 1.275 1.275 + 8.5 = 9.775. So the cost after the raise is $9.775 Now you just have to find out which option equals 9.775.
@shinalcantara I don't think that's right..I think it want's the price after the raise..not the raise price..(1.275).
I think the answer is C because: \(8.5 \cdot \dfrac{23}{20} = 9.775\)
it doesn't make sense though. the expression would have been in geometric progression \[A_n = 8.50r^{n-1}\] \[A_n = 8.50(0.15)^{n-1}\]
