Giving direct answers still undecided?
I often come around people that give direct answers on people's posts saying it's okay to give direct answers with an explanation because @ganeshie8 and @amistre64 say it's okay. But I also heard that @Hero and @TuringTest disagreed into giving direct answers. Shouldn't the moderators have the same opinion on an issue?
-_-
i like to try and ask the asker some questions before trying to explain anything. that way i have some understanding of how much they understand. if they are completely clueless, then i'll type up step-by-step instructions and finally the answer. and i always ask if they understood what i was saying and if they need any more help
^What @AriPotta said.
the mods are in agreement to direct answer giving. I have never said it was ok to give a direct answer.
typing the final answer, without the askers feedback or attempts, amounts to giving out the answer; directly. While step by step instructions are useful to those who actually work thru the steps ... when someone is just waiting around for the final answer then all that time and effort is futile. Step by step and a final answer on a similar problem, an example, would be acceptable.
