Both the Truman Doctrine and the Marshall Plan are similar because they were part of the United States' policy of containment during the Cold War. The Marshall Plan (officially the European Recovery Program, ERP) was the large-scale American program to aid Europe where the United States gave monetary support to help rebuild European economies after the end of World War II.
