So why does the Senate care so much about who the president nominates?

The congress (both houses) are there to represent the people of each state. It certainly is their job to reign in any president who gets out of line and they have the power to do so. It is the job of every voter to keep a wary eye on each politician they have helped put into office or who represents their state. When those politicians no longer live up to the commitment, it is the job of the voter to elect a replacement as soon as possible. medal pls
