What is slope? I am in math class and I don't understand. Also what types of slopes are there and what are they?

OpenStudy (igreen):

Slope is Rise/Run. You can find the slope between two points with the equation \(m = \dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}\). Positive slope is when the line rises from left to right. Negative slope is when the line declines from right to left. No slope is when the line is horizontal. Undefined slope is when the line is vertical.

Does that help? @maeganspr4997

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you but i still am confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Exactly: Rise/run y2-y1/x2-X1 Dependent/independent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am still confused about slopes and i am in honors algebra 1 in 7th grade

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Um do u have ur txtbk because I just learned that yesterday

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol i got that same answer hey meagan

OpenStudy (anonymous):

On a graph the rise is the y axis (up is positive and down is negative) The run is the x axis (left is negative and right is positive)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no because we don't have our textbooks yet @corderoalize

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes we do look in the hard book

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@timothycar5395 we don't have a hard book

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i meant the text book

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i see it @corderoalize
