Two reasons why people are interested in connections between movies and real life time to me, I think it has to do with more of understanding where people came from so they have are more knowledgeable about what the world and what it is really like. Second, people are more aware of real life news rather depending movies and academic disciplines but they tie the true stuff to real life time. Hope this helped..
